Using Eye Tracking On Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Did you know that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a very advanced eye tracking feature that can be used to keep your phone awake whilst you’re looking at the screen? This feature has been on the Galaxy range for some time, and it’s even better on the Galaxy Note 8. It’s one of the most useful convenience features on the Note 8, and once you set it up, it’ll stop your smartphone display from switching off randomly whilst you’re using the device.

You’ll often see an eye-tracking symbol appear and disappear whilst you’re using the device. This means the Note 8 is essentially checking to see if your eyes are still focused on the display.

If they are, the display will stay switched on. If they’re not, the display will switch off to save battery. Follow the steps below to turn on the eye tracking feature on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

How to turn ON Smart Stay eye symbol on Samsung Galaxy Note 8:

  1. Make sure the Galaxy Note 8 is switched on.
  2. Open the app menu.
  3. Open the Settings app.
  4. Tap the Display option.
  5. Scroll to the “Stay Smart” option.
  6. Tap to check the box.
  7. You’ll now see the eye tracking icon in the notification bar.

The Smart Stay feature can also be used to turn the display on when you look at it. This feature works because your device will periodically check to see whether your eyes are looking at the screen. The Galaxy Note 8 does this by using the front facing camera.
