Will Tinder Issue a Refund?

It is reader question time again and this time the question is about getting a refund from the Tinder.  The question was “I accidentally subscribed to Tinder Gold for six months but only wanted one month, will Tinder refund me so I can just get the one month?”

Apparently, this is quite a common issue, which is why I am turning this process into a tutorial. Here is everything you need to know about getting a Tinder Gold refund.

The free version of Tinder is pretty good but if you want to supercharge your dating, Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold can offer some worthwhile features. Tinder Plus offers Rewind, unlimited right swipes, 5 Super Likes, the ability to hide distance and age and Passport, the ability to change your location as you need to. It also removes ads which is a benefit all by itself. Tinder Gold offers the Likes You feature for those who want to shortcut their way to dates. “Likes you,” tells you who has “swiped right” on your Tinder profile.

Both Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold require a subscription to access them. As Tinder is an app, you subscribe using the Google Play Store or the Apple Store. All payment issues are handled by the respective app store unless you use Tinder Online in which case you pay Tinder directly and get a refund directly from Tinder.

Tinder and refunds

The law on distance selling as it relates to apps and refunds depends on where in the world you live. Typically, if you have begun your subscribed period, it is difficult to get a refund but Tinder leaves a lot of gray areas in its terms and conditions. If you read the page, it says the following with regard to the terms and conditions for refunds:

Generally, all charges for in app purchases are nonrefundable, and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods. We may make an exception if a refund for Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, or another subscription offering is requested within fourteen days of the transaction date, or if the laws applicable in your jurisdiction provide for refunds. See our Terms of Use for details.

In one sentence it says generally no refunds for partially used periods but in another place, it says they may offer a refund within 14 days of paying. I would suggest that if you find yourself in the same situation as our reader, it is always worth trying for a refund as you really have nothing to lose. At $9.99 for Plus or $14.99 for Gold per month, it isn’t an insignificant sum of money especially if you paid for 6 months in advance.

If you want a Tinder refund from the app store, you typically have 48 hours from the transaction date to apply for it. You need to move fast to get your money back so don’t waste time!

Tinder refund from Google Play Store

As you manage your app and subscriptions from the relevant app store, your first stop should be there. In the case of the Google Play Store, you have to use a computer rather than a phone but the end result is the same. Here are the steps to request a Tinder refund through the Google Play store:

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store and to your account
  2. Navigate to Order History and select the Tinder subscription you want to refund
  3. Select More and Report a Problem
  4. Select the refund option and complete any explanations
  5. Send the report and you should see an acknowledgment

The refund process takes a little time but you should be notified when a decision has been made on whether to grant you a refund or when your money has been returned to you.

Tinder refund from Apple Store

The process to get a Tinder refund from the Apple App Store is much the same as with the Google Apps store. The rules are too), so you need to move quickly if you want to get your money back. The main difference is that your Apple App Store account can take up to 48 hours to update your subscription status which is also the time limit for getting a refund.

This is the main way to get a refund:

  1. Navigate to the Apple report a problem page
  2. Navigate to Subscriptions and select Tinder
  3. Select Report a Problem and select a reason for requesting a refund

If the subscription doesn’t show up we just report a problem to Apple Customer Support.

While I cannot recommend it officially, some users say reporting a problem as unauthorized access or payment to Google Play Store or the Apple Store gets faster results. It does mean you have to change your account password but gets you your money back.

Getting a refund from Tinder Online

If you use Tinder Online you have to request a refund directly from Tinder. Follow this link to Tinder Customer Support and fill in the short form. You will need your order reference code from the confirmation email but the process is very simple.

I was subscribed tinder gold for one year but I feel that it’s don’t work. Tinder instructions are that if you was subscribed by Google play store than you have 14 days for refund. I was apply for refund with in 3 days but still I don’t get my amount back. Now 15 days passed but I don’t get refund I was pay by debit card in pkr. They make it so hard for a refund. They are total cunts, and scammers. I have to order a new card because they have made it literally impossible to cancel my subscription. That one show should call them out. Like they literally have no number to contact them.

So I requested for a refund within 48 hours and now when I see in my purchase history it shows as refunded but didn’t receive my money yet. The status is showing cancelled and in google play return policy it is written that if the status is shown as cancelled then i will not be recieving the amount as it was never charged. But the amount of rupees 520 has already been deducted from my bank account. Contradictory to this i recieved an email saying that the refund has already been generated. So will i get the refund?

I purchased Tinder Gold on tinder web using my CC and then requested their support to cancel my subscription and refund me within 2 days of purchase. My refund request was accepted by their support and my subscription was canceled and I was asked to wait 5-10 days for the refund to show up but it has been 15+ days and I received no refund. Now their support also stopped responding to my emails. I have no idea where to report this scam. Since I have not purchased on Google Play store or Apple store, I can’t file a complaint there. Please help me.
