When Apple announced the arrival of the iPhone 12 generation, there were two reasons for excitement. Apart from issuing four brand new models, the company also introduced a line of customized “MagSafe” accessories. The magnetic technology was first used on MacBook charging cables but has since been successfully implemented on a wide range of devices.
So, what are the best iPhone 12 accessories? It mostly boils down to personal preference, except for phone chargers. Since Apple is persistent about promoting wireless charging, the iPhone 12 package doesn’t include one. That’s why we have so many different models on this list – it’s literally a must-have. Of course, there are plenty of other accessories to go over, such as phone cases, screen protection, and of course – everyone’s favorite earbuds.
The new generation model carries over the best features from the previous installment with a couple of snazzy upgrades. The slick white design has more or less remained the same, with a few minor changes. Mainly, AirPods Pro has a broader silicon tip for optimal noise cancellation and a more comfortable fit.
There are three sizes available to accommodate most earlobe shapes. Since the front is larger, the charging box is a tad wider, but it still compact.
As of now, AirPods Pro only comes in white, despite Apple users’ persistent pleas. Luckily, the timeless aesthetic is as trendy as ever.
One of the reasons why AirPods Pro is so popular is the revolutionary Active Noise Cancellation feature. Apple incorporated both an inward and an external microphone to customize the sound waves for each eardrum. This, coupled with sophisticated software, makes for an incredibly immersive experience. Of course, those who wish to remain alert while listening to music can enable Transparency mode.
The toggle switch will turn off Active Noise Cancellation and allow you to hear ambient noises, such as traffic. Another substantial upgrade is the new equalizing system that eases the physical discomfort of wearing in-ear buds. The amplifier is designed to produce a clear, radiant sound that has a soothing effect. Thanks to the new Adaptive EQ, the built-in speaker can drop as low as 20Hz and go back up without compromising the audio quality. Although submerging your AirPods Pro in water is highly inadvisable, they are, in fact, waterproof. The IPX4 rating has confirmed the earbuds have a high water resistance level.
That means it’s not a big deal if you get caught in a downpour. Of course, more prolonged exposure to water will have more severe consequences. Maybe it’s best to leave them behind when you go surfing since Apple doesn’t cover water damage in the warranty.
As established, the iPhone 12 doesn’t come with a charger. Hence, this is the only accessory that’s absolutely essential. When it comes to iPhone 12 chargers, you can’t go wrong with MagSafe products. Apart from the cutting-edge aesthetic, they’re powered by equally innovative magnetic technology. Although wireless charging still takes more time than inductive, it’s becoming faster with each new generation model.
The RAVPower charger certainly lives up to its name. With a whopping 15W output, the charging speed has never been higher. The built-in magnets are more potent than the previous MagSafe models. Of course, the accessory was custom-made for iPhone 12 software. That means only the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max can charge at that speed.
A game-changing addition is a tiny USB-C charger included in the package. Not only is it entirely gratis, but the little black brick has an astounding 20W output. The design is meant to invoke the raw power of the charger with a dark grey aluminum shell and crisp black features. Although slightly less aesthetic, the little charging box matches the dark palate. It’s a bold choice for a bold new wireless charging technology.
Imagine having less than 5% battery power left. Then picture the Apple’s MagSafe Charger snapping onto the back of your device, like a magnet on a refrigerator. Before you know it, the powerful charging pad brings your iPhone from the brink of shut-down. That’s how fast the charging is! The adapter can charge most iPhone 12 models at a rate of 15W, guaranteeing a quick power boost. However, the smallest model (iPhone 12 Micro) can only charge at 12W, which is still quick for a wireless charger.
Another factor could be the temperature of the device, so if it’s not charging properly, just cool it off for a bit. Unlike other wireless chargers, MagSafe is compatible with older generation iPhones. Just keep in mind the device will charge slightly slower than with a Qi charger. When combined with older models, the speed tends to be limited to about 5W which is more than enough in the case of emergency. As an Apple wireless charger, it doesn’t come with a charging cable in its box. Instead, it has an integrated USB-C port compatible with a MacBook Pro. The MagSafe works well with many phone cases, especially the ones with magnetic compounds. When you attach the charger to a MagSafe phone case, the lock screen flashes the exact color of the case.
Right off the bat, the Belkin MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless charger blows you away with its futuristic design. The silicon-coated plastic base is painted white, while the charging components are aligned with chrome-colored details. Not even the slightly bulkier dimensions can diminish the elegance of the set-up.
Of course, the defining quality is its functionality. There are two separate charges on each side of the T-shaped stand – one for the phone, and one for the Apple Watch. You can also plug in your AirPods Pro, and you can charge all three at the same time. You might think that simultaneously charging three different devices will take twice as long, but the 3-in-1 Wireless Charger is better than that.
With a 15W output, the stand can generate enough speed for your phone, earbuds, and watch with ease. The MagSafe signature compound adds to the overall futuristic feel. When you plug in your device, it looks as if it’s floating mid-air. The truth is that the intricate magnetic technology keeps your devices glued to each side of the stand. It might look unsafe, but rest assured no amount of shaking, blowing, or poking can detach them.
If you think the Apple Wallet is just another phone case, prepare to be amazed. While providing protection as one of the many features, the accessory also serves as a wireless charger and a literal wallet. Using the built-in magnets, it latches onto your device, even if it’s tucked in a different phone case. You can store your ID, credit cards, and cash in tiny pockets without worrying about losing them. It’s the perfect accessory for those who like to travel light. The MagSafe accessory prevents the wallet from accidentally detaching itself from the phone. The magnetic charge is so powerful it’s borderline impossible to pull out your credit card. Regardless of where you keep your phone, the wallet will be safely attached until you take it off yourself. Apart from the incredible safety feature, the design is also striking. The high-end material is so smooth it softens the phone’s harsh edges. You can get it in four different colors – Baltic Blue, Saddle Brown, California Poppy, and black.
Dare we include a third-party product on the list? MOFT recently started designing accessories for Apple products, specifically the iPhone 12 series. They use a similar technology to MagSafe for the majority of their products. However, instead of making wireless charges, the competitive company went for a different feature. The MOFT wallet is one of the more popular products. There are as many as 16 tiny magnets integrated into the pad that make sure the accessory stays put. It’s super safe for storing documents and credit cards.
Of course, you don’t have to use it as a wallet. The MOFT MagSafe Wallet can slide down into a square shape and act as a magnetic stand for your phone. You can also use it to boost it up when charging. With tiny built-in magnets on each side, you can attach your iPhone to any magnetically attracted surface, which is both practical and kind of fun.
While being able to fold the wallet in different ways is great fun, it might not look too flattering on some models. Particularly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is slightly less compatible with the accessory. The device is too large for the wallet to hold up at a right angle so that it might pose a hindrance. However, it’s only for this particular model – the rest are a perfect match.
The Belkin Magnetic Car Vent Mount Pro will ensure you never lose your phone in the car seat again. As the name suggests, the accessory lets you attach your iPhone to the car vent for a more comfortable driving experience.
The vent clip is secured with MagSafe technology, so you don’t have to worry about bumps in the road. However, you might want to be extra careful with iPhone Pro Max due to the size and weight of the model. You can switch from landscape to portrait view with a slight touch of a hand. The ball joint is very flexible and allows you to rotate the screen whichever way you want. If you don’t have a GPS device in your car, Belkin Magnetic Car Vent Mount is a great solution.
Simply attach your iPhone, open Apple Maps, and hit the road. Even though it’s a MagSafe accessory, it can’t actually charge your phone. The Car Vent Mount Pro has a single purpose and it’s to hold your phone in place while you’re driving. But that’s just a small inconvenience that can be fixed with a charging cable.
After all the talk about wireless chargers, recommending a wall adapter might come as a surprise. However, there are many advantages that come with Anker PowerPort Nano III. Firstly, the USB-C port can charge your phone three times as fast, thanks to the 20W output. Secondly, it’s compatible with a wide range of devices, not just iPhone 12 models.
The smooth lines and compact design almost resemble an Apple product. Since it’s only one inch wide, you can easily carry around it in your bag. Anker PowerPort Nano III also comes with an EU plug, which makes it perfect for travel. Overall, it can’t hurt to have a powerful adapter in case your battery runs out. You only have to find where to plug it in, and the IQ 3 technology will take care of the rest.
Like most Apple users, you were probably drawn to the clean iPhone 12 design. That’s why you’re reluctant to cover it up with a bland phone case. No matter how much you’d like to show off your brand new toy, it’s better to be safe than sorry. And there’s no sorrier sight than a banged-up brand new iPhone.
Luckily, Apple has issued a see-through MagSafe phone case that keeps your phone from harm while flaunting the gorgeous design. The polycarbonate materials are entirely transparent and incredibly light, fitting comfortably in your hand. As for the protection level, the phone case is quite resilient. Not only does it protect the surface layer, but it makes sure the phone’s entire ecosystem remains intact.
Apple is pretty rigorous when it comes to testing their phone cases. They make sure the material is strong enough to prevent scratches, breaks, and other forms of damage. You also don’t have to worry about it turning yellow over time. The MagSafe feature makes sure the phone case perfectly aligns with the device layout, meaning all buttons are completely accessible. It’s also designed to facilitate wireless charging. The material was purposefully chosen to not be a hindrance to the built-in magnetic compound.
Last but not least is the Anti-Glare Screen Protection by Belkin. The display is the most vulnerable part of any device, and iPhone 12 is no exception. Even with the so-called “Ceramic Shield” feature, it’s better to use a screen protector.
While the Apple Clear Phone Case is highly resilient, it can only do so much to protect the screen. The Belkin Anti-Glare Screen Protector was designed to provide maximum protection. The EasyAlign system ensures every inch of the screen is snuggly covered. Don’t be alarmed by the ultrathin coating; it’s estimated to have a hardness of three.
It also provides better touch control. The screen protection also diffuses direct sunlight and artificial lighting. It ensures that your display is always visible, even in the brightest circumstances.
