The Best Roomba Alternatives in 2022

Like any other busy family, you’re also probably looking for cleaning assistance or anything that could make your life easier. Thanks to the advancements in technology, we now have appliances that can help us with that. One of them is the Roomba vacuum.

Cleaning takes a lot of time, especially if you have a big house and you’re using traditional tools for cleaning. But not when you have a Roomba. With this vacuum, you can easily pick up dust, hair, and fur.

You might say that an ordinary vacuum can also do that. Yes, they can, but what sets the Roomba apart is that it’s more compact. Because of its size and design, it can go under your furniture well.

If you don’t want Roomba to go somewhere, it comes with miniature lighthouses that set up in seconds and establish an invisible barrier. And with this, you also don’t have to worry about cords and other things that could get in the way of your Roomba,d as it can automatically stop itself if something gets caught in it.

However, many are still hesitant to buy this due to its weak points. One of them is that it doesn’t go over liquids. This means that you have to manually clean it or use other equipment to clean it, unlike traditional vacuums.

Ironically, the way it operates automatically is another one of its weaknesses. When its bin gets full, it automatically stops, so you have to keep an eye on it.

For those who are on a tight budget, its price also becomes a turn-off. A Roomba can cost you between $400 to $900.

Luckily there are many Roomba alternatives. Some are more affordable, while others offer better features. Here are some of our favorites.

01 ILIFE V3s Pro Robot Vacuum

ILIFE V3s Pro Robot Vacuum

ILIFE V3s Pro Robot Vacuum is one of the cheapest yet one of the best Rooba alternatives that you can buy. The V3s Pro does not feature a WiFi connection or an app. Instead, it comes with a remote control that looks like it was made in 2005. The V3s Pro is ready to respond to the remote (as long as you’re aiming at it). For some, this might be a letdown, especially for those who are used to WiFi-connected appliances. But that can also be an advantage because this means you don’t have to deal with weak WiFi connections or even pop-up ads that are requesting local network access.

Since the  ILIFE V3s Pro Robot Vacuum has blindfolded navigation, it’s best not to leave it alone roaming your house when you’re not home. It’s ideal to use it on days when you don’t feel like getting your stick vacuum, and you can keep an eye out for it from time to time. This vacuum works well on hardwood and laminated floors. Though the suction was about as weak as a cheap hand vacuum, it was still strong enough to draw in long hairs and even cat food on occasion.

If your home is carpeted or has low pile rugs, don’t worry,  the ILIFE V3s Pro Robot Vacuum still works okay. Just make sure there is no debris that has been smushed down. It can scoop up a few Christmas tree needles, tinsel, as well as leaves. However, its brushes and suction aren’t strong enough to dislodge mud crumbles that had been walked on. Overall, at a price of $119.99, it’s not a bad option, especially if you’re on a budget.

Pros

  • Good Quality
  • Really effective on laminate

Cons

  • Slightly less effective on carpet

Specification

  • Price $99.99
  • Product Dimensions 11.8 x 11.8 x 3 inches
  • Item Weight 4.5 pounds
  • Batteries 1 Lithium ion battery

02 Roborock S4 Max Robot Vacuum

Roborock S4 Max Robot Vacuum

TheRoborock S4 Max Robot Vacuum is a sturdy robot vacuum cleaner. It looks similar to the Roborock S4. However, unlike that model, it can navigate high-pile carpets. It cleans bare floors well and picks up a lot of pet hair from carpets as well.   In recent years, several robot vacuums have piled on features and frills while overlooking the most critical aspect: reliable vacuuming performance. One of them is the Roborock S4 Max.   The build quality of the Roborock S4 Max alone is excellent. It’s made of strong plastic that feels solid and has a matte surface. The wheels are constructed of rubber and appear to be sturdy. The dustbin, on the other hand, feels as if it might break if dropped.

It’s easy to set up. This is great if you’re a beginner at using autonomous robotic vacuum cleaners.   Thanks to its lidar navigation technology, the Roborock S4 Max can “see” around obstacles in your home. The bot bounces lasers off walls and furniture to figure out where it can and can’t travel in your house.   The information is then utilized to create a precise map of your residence. You can designate specific rooms for room-by-room cleaning using the map.

Because of the laser mapping, the vacuum does not accelerate into table legs or walls. Furthermore, the S4 Max’s climbing abilities were unaffected by flooring transitions, edges, or rugs. You may establish virtual boundaries or no-go zones to prevent a bot like this from being stranded using the Roborock app. You can prevent your robot from entering particular areas or corners that are problematic. One flaw, though, is its dustbin. Unfortunately, it’s smaller compared to others, so it’s not always ideal for big houses or for times when a lot of dust and other debris has accumulated.

Pros

  • Easy to set
  • Good for surrounding

Cons

  • The dust bin is tiny

Specification

  • Price $299.99
  • Product Dimensions 18.9 x 6 x 18.8 inches
  • Item Weight 11.97 pounds
  • Batteries 1 Lithium ion batter

03 Eufy by Anker, BoostIQ RoboVac 15C MAX, Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum

Eufy by Anker, BoostIQ RoboVac 15C MAX, Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum

The Eufy RoboVac 15c MAX is a budget robot vacuum with above-average cleaning capabilities when compared to its price range’s competitors. In comparison to the Eufy RoboVac 15c, which only has a suction power of 1300 Pa, the Eufy RoboVac 15c MAX has a suction power of 2000 Pa. It can effectively take up bits of dirt with this suction power. It also has a BoostIQ feature, which is useful for people who live in houses with carpets.

When the BoostIQ feature detects carpets, it automatically increases suction power to give a more thorough cleaning and pick up debris embedded deep in the carpet.   However, utilizing the BoostIQ increases suction power while simultaneously increasing energy consumption, which reduces battery life. The battery life will be around 40-60 minutes while using the BoostIQ feature. Although the Eufy RoboVac 15c MAX is inexpensive, it lacks advanced capabilities such as smart mapping technology.

When you choose the auto cleaning mode, it cleans your room in a random pattern, mostly going in a straight path and changing direction only when it hits the furniture. It does not promise that it will clean your entire room. But, if your room is tiny, it has a better probability of doing so. It offers edge and spot modes in addition to auto mode. Its features, for some, may be a bit overwhelming, but it’s so easy to use and set up, which is great for new users. But, like the Roborock S4 Max Robot Vacuum, this one also has a weak point, specifically in its bin. Unfortunately, it has a small bin; This makes it less than ideal to use in large areas that have plenty of debris to be cleaned up alone.

Pros

  • Setup is easy
  • Good build

Cons

  • A little tiny bin

Specification

  • Price $159.99
  • Product Dimensions 12.8 x 12.8 x 2.85 inches
  • Item Weight 5.95 pounds
  • Batteries 1 Lithium ion battery

04 Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum

Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum

Many of you probably know Xiaomi as a brand that offers smartphones. But, it has already expanded its range of products and can now offer you even when cleaning your home. One of its amazing home appliance products is the Mi Robot Vacuum. The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum is a robot vacuum in the mid-range price range. It’s well-made, has a long battery life, and can maneuver itself nicely.   If you’re familiar with the Roborock vacuums, you’ll find that the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum has the same feel – it has a hard plastic body and durable rubber wheels.

Setup is straightforward right out of the box, requiring simply the connection to the docking station and the ‘Mi Home’ companion app. What makes it stand out even more is its battery life. The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum has excellent battery life. It provides a little over 100 minutes of operation on a single charge in its high-power MAX mode. Running it in the most efficient Silent suction power mode provides about 160 minutes of continuous cleaning time, which should be enough for most places. It’s worth mentioning, though, that battery life might vary greatly in the actual world.

When the battery dips below 20%, the vacuum returns to its dock and refuses to accept any new cleaning assignments, and the power button switches from solid white to solid red, giving you a good indication of how much energy is left. However, note that the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum is smaller than its competitors. Thus, it also has a smaller bin. Ironically, this can also be one of its strong points. Since the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum is small, it’s easier to store it. Plus, you’re guaranteed that it can clean every nook and cranny in your home.

Pros

  • Good battery life
  • Very good product

Cons

  • Too small

Specification

  • Price $450.00
  • Product Dimensions 13.58 x 13.58 x 3.78 inches
  • Item Weight 8.4 pounds
  • Batteries 1 Lithium Polymer battery

05 Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum

Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum

Roborock is quickly becoming the most popular brand of robot vacuum cleaners. It’s already the most successful robot vacuum cleaner manufacturer in China, and it’s quickly becoming a household name in the West, thanks to a strong online store and a strong Amazon presence. The Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum, as the name implies, is a modified version of last year’s Roborock S6 with a few adjustments to bring the price down to roughly $550.

It’s not as cheap as the $400 Roborock S4 or the S4 Max, but it does come with a few extra features above the base model. The Roborock models are all very similar in appearance. There’s nothing unusual about it; there’s no Neato-style D-shape, no lengthened brush, nothing. In comparison to the S6, there is no spot clean button, only a power button and a home button on the top. This makes it easier to control.

It features a suction rating of 2,000 Pa, which is comparable to flagship devices from other robot cleaner firms, and a Carpet Mode that enhances suction power when it senses it has moved from a hard floor to a carpeted area or a rug. So, even on carpeted areas in your home, you’re sure that you’re able to clean it well with the Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum. One disadvantage of using the Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum, though, is its bin. Like most of the Roomba alternatives on this list, Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum’s bin is also small. So, you have to empty it frequently, especially if you’re cleaning a big area or you have lots of debris to scoop up.

Pros

  • Good on both carpet & floor
  • Easy control

Cons

  • Small bin

Specification

  • Price $259.99
  • Product Dimensions 13.78 x 13.9 x 3.78 inches
  • Item Weight 7.1 pounds
  • Batteries 1 Lithium ion battery

06 Uoni V980Plus Robot Vacuum

Uoni V980Plus Robot Vacuum

The UONI Robot Vacuum is a remote-controlled vacuum cleaner that will save you time in the morning. If you’re bored of cleaning the house, this robot vacuum is for you. It’s smart, quick, and gives you the impression that you’re in the future. It has a nice appearance and feels solid and well-made. It’s incredibly sleek and fashionable. But, of course, we’re not only looking into its appearance but also into its performance.

Like other vacuums, the Uoni V980Plus Robot Vacuum also works autonomously. But what sets it apart from the competition is its self-emptying feature. The amount of dirt gathered in the dustbin can be monitored via remote control or a mobile app (UONI Home). It will automatically discharge dirt in the dust box into the disposable dust bag after each cleaning session. The robot’s binge emptying system is quite efficient, and it can be emptied without touching anything.

When the bin is full, a sensor will open a trap door, allowing the dirt to be released into a rubbish bin. The dust bag is large enough to be left unattended for several weeks, with a capacity of 4.3L. When the dust bag is full, just remove it and discard it. The dust bin’s orange light will flash to indicate that it needs to be emptied. Many robotic vacuum cleaners contain little waste receptacles that must be cleaned on a regular basis. The dust and debris are immediately transported to a large-capacity bag made of filter-grade material when the UONI Robot Vacuum V980 Plus returns to the charging base station. One weak point of this vacuum, however, is its radar speed. Apparently, it moves fast, and sometimes,  the radar can’t keep up.

Pros

  • Good Body built
  • Self empty

Cons

  • Radar speed move fast

Specification

  • Price $462.39
  • Product Dimensions 15.35 x 14.96 x 17.32 inches
  • Item Weight 22 pounds
  • Batteries 1 Lithium ion batteries
