The Best Bass Headphones in 2022

Some people prefer headphones to use for listening to music, watching movies, or playing games. Punchy bass can elevate any audio and make your listening experience more enjoyable. That’s why we’ve rounded up the best bass headphones from various brands and price points, each with their own unique qualities that suit every audiophile’s preferences. Of course, all of them are bass-heavy, but we’ve also considered headphones that deliver balanced and clear audio, so you will still hear the rest of the elements of sound despite the loud bass.

01 Sony WH-1000XM4

The Sony WH-1000XM4 ranks high on the list of best bass headphones as proven by experts and positive user reviews. If money isn’t an issue, then these headphones are the best in their class. They come with a strong bass right out of the box, but there’s an option to adjust the EQ settings to your preference.

In addition to the excellent bass performance, the Sony WH-1000XM4 has been redesigned with a thinner headband and lighter materials than its predecessor, the WH-1000XM3. This makes the WH-1000XM4 lighter and more comfortable. It’s made with smooth plastic, but it feels durable enough to last a long time. It has no IP rating, so it’s not meant for wearing while outdoors or during exercise.

Another unique feature is its custom button located on the bottom of the right earcup. This switches from noise-canceling to ambient mode. A long press of this button customizes the noise-canceling (NC) function according to factors like your face shape and immediate surroundings.

Pros

  • Bass-heavy default sound profile
  • Lightweight
  • Solid noise-canceling feature

Cons

  • No IP rating
  • Average microphone

Specification

  • Price $219.21
  • Connectivity Technology Wireless
  • Item Weight 1 pound
  • Product Dimensions 7.27 x 3.03 x 9.94 inches

02 MORE H1707

Among our list of best bass headphones is the 1MORE H1707. These triple-bass, over-the-ear headphones are built with three drivers, including a bass reflector. Delivering a powerful bass without drowning out the mid and low frequencies, the 1MORE H1707 is a great pair of headphones for bass-loving audiophiles.

In addition to the three 40 mm drivers, the 1MORE H1707 has an extended frequency range of 20 Hz- 40 kHz, which helps produce balanced and precise sound. The headband is made of stainless steel while the earcups are made of aluminum, both with foam covers for maximum comfort. While the earcups are marketed as over-the-ear, they might be too small for people with big ears.

These headphones can be folded and stored into the included carrying case, which is great for those who travel or go on long commutes. The detachable audio cables are made with a braided Kevlar sheath, which makes them durable and tangle-free.

Pros

  • Balanced sound
  • Detachable, tangle-free cable
  • Foldable

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Earcups might be too small for some people

03 Skullcandy Crusher Evo

Bassheads on a budget may find the Skullcandy Crusher Evo to be the best bass headphones because of their affordable price and solid sound quality. With Bluetooth 5 wireless connectivity for under $200, these headphones are quite a deal. The Evo is equipped with a customizable bass profile, thanks to the bass slider/buttons on the bottom of the left earcup or the Skullcandy app.

These headphones are great for frequent travelers as they are foldable and come with a carry-on pouch. Along with the ability to personalize the sound, the Evo has excellent noise isolation right out of the box, which adds to its functionality when listening to music in a crowded street or noisy park. The battery life is said to be 40 hours, and it can last up to 4 hours with a 10-minute charge.

One caveat of the Evo is that it doesn’t support Bluetooth multipoint, so you’d have to unpair a device before pairing it to a new one. This may be a small inconvenience, but if you don’t plan on pairing with multiple devices, it shouldn’t be an issue.

Pros

  • Bass slider
  • Skullcandy app
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • No Bluetooth multipoint support

Specification

  • Price $175.49
  • Connectivity Technology Wireless, Wired
  • Item Weight 11 ounces

04 Audio-Technica ATHM50XBT

Anyone who wants to level up the sound quality of their headphones needs to check out the Audio-Technica ATHM50XBT. These wireless headphones are meant for the younger generation as they have a pleasant bass-driven sound that is on par with much pricier counterparts. Listening to these headphones is a fantastic experience for fans of EDM or hip hop, as there is a notable bass boost, but those who enjoy other genres of music should find the ATHM50XBT a decent set of cans.

The ATHM50XBT has excellent battery life and can last up to 40 hours on a full charge. It’s also collapsible and comes with a leather pouch. The headband is padded and made of metal, while the earcups are made with durable plastic with thin pads, so they can become uncomfortable when worn for a long time. The earpads help block out outside noise, which is great because this model does not have active noise cancelation.

Other than the lack of noise cancelation, the ATHM50XBT delivers some of the best and most balanced sound in their price range. Pair this with durability, strong battery life, and sensible design, you get the best bass headphones on the market.

Pros

  • Pleasant sound
  • Portable

Cons

  • No noise cancelation

Specification

  • Price $199.99
  • Connectivity Technology Wireless
  • Item Weight 10.9 ounces
  • Product Dimensions 8.66 x 4.33 x 9.84 inches

05 Sennheiser Momentum 3

The Sennheiser Momentum 3 is not for everyone, given its steep price point. They are, however, the best bass headphones for people who love an iconic and stylish design with great sound quality. Out of the box, the Momentum 3 delivers a significantly stronger bass profile. In addition, the highs and mids remain clear and blend well with the boosted, thumping bass. There’s a Smart Control app for adjusting EQ settings to tweak the sound to your liking.

Unlike most headphones, the Sennheiser Momentum 3’s headband and earcups are covered in plush leather. Brushed, matte, metal bands attached to the earcups allow for sliding them into the desired position. Bluetooth multipoint allows you to connect them simultaneously with up to two devices, and the noise-canceling function comes in handy when using them in a loud environment.

Probably the most unique feature of the Momentum 3 is the autoplay/pause function, which happens when you take the headphones on and off. There’s no power button. To turn off the headphones, you need to fold the earcups into the inner part of the band. Packing it away is convenient with the carrying case that comes with the headphones.

Pros

  • Stylish design
  • Bass-forward sound
  • Durable

Cons

  • No 3.5 mm jack/cable

Specification

  • Price $241.90
  • Connectivity Technology Wireless
  • Item Weight 10.8 ounces
  • Product Dimensions 7.8 x 6.7 x 1.78 inches

06 Panasonic RB-M700B

For under $100, you get deep bass sound and ample noise cancelation with the Panasonic RB-M700B, making it one of the best bass headphones on a budget. You do have to compromise a bit as, with these headphones, you won’t be getting top-of-the-line build quality or design. These headphones are made of smooth, light plastic, so they need extra care when packed alongside other objects in a bag or backpack. Sadly, these do not come with a carrying case.

A dedicated bass button can be found on the bottom edge of the left earcup, and this activates the built-in, 3-level bass reactor, amplifying low frequencies without distorting the mids and highs. While these headphones are a bass-heavy device, you are still in control of how much thump comes out of them.

The RB-M700B can run for up to 1.5 hours with a 15-minute charge and up to 20 hours with a full charge (4 hours). You can activate noise canceling from the button on the bottom of the left earcup. Despite the minimalist design, the earcup foams are quite thick and deliver quality comfort, making them suitable for day-long wear.

Pros

  • Dedicated bass button
  • Comfortable earcups
  • Solid noise cancelation

Cons

  • Not foldable

Specification

  • Price $89.54
  • Connectivity Technology Wireless
  • Item Weight 1.25 pounds
  • Product Dimensions 10 x 8.4 x 4.8 inches
