Apple announced its new Mac operating system, macOS High Sierra, at its WWDC keynote this week. As expected, this new version includes a new default wallpaper image.

A public beta of the operating system will be available soon for those interested in testing out the new features. But those who can’t risk running beta software will have to wait to get their hands on the new version until it launches this fall. If you fall into this second group, you may not be able to experience the new features, but you can at least pretend by adding the macOS High Sierra wallpaper to your Mac right now.

Like most recent macOS default wallpapers, the one for High Sierra arrives at a stunning 5120×2880 resolution. That’s a 16:9 aspect ratio of the highest-resolution display that Apple ships: the 27-inch 5K Retina iMac. For displays with lower resolution, macOS will automatically scale the image down.

You can download the macOS High Sierra Wallpaper here. Once downloaded, move it to your Mac’s Pictures folder, head to System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop, select Pictures from the sidebar on the left side of the window, and then select the image from the list on the right. Alternatively, you can right-click (Control-click) on the downloaded wallpaper file from any location and select Set Desktop Picture.

Of course, the macOS High Sierra wallpaper image is just a standard JPEG file, so you can use it to beautify your Windows PC, Android tablet, or any other device that allows you to set a background image or wallpaper.

macOS High Sierra was just one of many hardware and software announcements from Apple this week. For more information on the full range of Apple’s announcements, check out the complete in-depth WWDC 2017 coverage from our friends over at The Mac Observer.
