The 5 Best Offline No Wi-Fi Required Texas Hold'em Poker Apps [September 2020]

Sometimes we just want a game of cards. No gambling, no multiplayer, no trash talk from other players and no requirement to be on or near WiFi. A game of cards can be relaxing or good practice depending on your intentions, so here are some of the best offline Texas Holdem poker apps you can play right now. These apps will either be offline or have the ability to play offline.

Once you have downloaded the app, you should no longer need a connection to play. All of the apps use fake money and do not involve real cash except where the game is premium or where in-app purchases are an option. There is no requirement for mandatory spending outside of the app purchase.

We may as well start as we mean to go on, by using offline play to increase your skills. That’s where Learn Poker comes in. Developed by the folks behind Governor of Poker, this app is designed to get you up to speed with the game. It is free to play and will walk you through the basics, hand combinations, tactics, bluffing and then get you to play a real game. I only played for 20 minutes or so but the app seemed very easy to follow. The tooltips are useful and descriptive and the pace is just right, at least it was for me. If you want to learn to play Texas Holdem, this is a good way to do it.

Poker World is from the same company as the app above, but is designed to be played by those who understand the game on a deeper level. It’s a single player game that puts you inside the Poker World Series. You travel the world playing across the table from a huge range of characters from all sorts of locations. The game plays similar to high-level Learn Poker matches, but with a higher level of challenge and variety to keep you coming back again and again. Cartoony graphics and a bright, colorful interface make this a decent game to play that keeps you on your toes without making it feel like a grind.

Alright, one more game from the dev team at Youda games. Governor of Poker 3 is made by the same people behind Learn Texas Holdem Offline and Poker World – Offline Texas Holdem. The reason this features is because everyone I asked said these games are simply the best offline Texas Holdem poker apps you can play bar none. This version is offline, has the same cartoony style as the previous two games and includes tutorials for newbies. Seasoned players will also get a challenge so everyone is catered for here. Gameplay is straightforward and the app is slick. Nothing more you need really.

Texas Holdem Offline Poker is an iOS game that also does a great job of simulating a real game of poker. Unlike our other suggestions on this list, Texas Holdem does away with the cartoony approach and introduces a more serious interface. This doesn’t detract from the gameplay itself, but it does remove a layer of fun the other three games featured that made them such a blast to play. Also, the game does seem to cheat at times with some very surprising hands. Aside from that, Texas Holdem Offline Poker is a great way to practice your game or help a commute pass you by. The game is offline but contains in-app purchases.

Video Poker looks incredibly basic but gameplay is very good. I spent a while playing it and enjoyed it. This was a suggestion from canvassing the office for poker games and was surprisingly popular. The UI is very basic with no frills or fancy effects but it does the job well enough. The game is free and can be played offline and best of all, contains no in-app purchases. Gameplay is challenging and more than Texas Holdem is included within the app.

So those are the five of the best offline Texas Holdem poker apps you can play on your mobile device. Each offers both a tutorial and a challenge and is a good way to practice your skills, develop strategies or just while away and hour or three while traveling or whatever.
