The Best Gaming PCs of 2022

Investing in a good gaming PC is a must if you want the best gaming experience out there. A great rig won’t just let you play all of the latest games; it will also let you play these games in their best shape and form. Building a PC is a bit complex to the taste of many, and if you’re one of those that want a hassle-free way to gaming, then you can buy a pre-built PC instead.

Contrary to common belief, pre-built gaming PCs aren’t bad. In fact, they’re a gateway to some amazing experiences too. What they lack in freedom to create, they make up for an easy way to enjoy the top games. Moreover, you can learn to upgrade and change parts in a pre-built gaming PC as well. Without further ado, here are the best gaming PCs of 2022.

01 Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition

The Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition is a high-end gaming desktop that’s been updated with AMD’s latest CPUs. It’s a well-rounded machine that offers excellent gaming and productivity performance, though it is pricey. The Aurora R10 looks largely the same as previous versions, with its signature alien head logo on the front and angular design. It’s available in two different sizes: a standard mid-tower and a larger full-tower option. Our review unit is the latter, which gives you more room for expansion.

The chassis is made of plastic and steel, and it feels solid overall. There are some sharp edges, however, so be careful when handling it. The top panel has a power button and a USB Type-A port, while the front panel has two more USB Type-A ports, a headphone jack, and a microphone jack. Around the back, you’ll find four more USB Type-A ports, two HDMI ports, two DisplayPort connectors, an Ethernet jack, a power connector, and a PS/2 port for connecting a mouse or keyboard. There’s also a clear window on the side panel that lets you see inside the system.

The interior is well-organized and easy to access. You can remove the side panel without having to unscrew anything, which is convenient. The Aurora R10 comes with a Wi-Fi card installed, but there’s also an optional Thunderbolt 3 card that you can buy separately. Thunderbolt 3 offers much faster data transfer speeds than Wi-Fi, so it’s worth considering if you have the budget for it. The Aurora R10 uses a standard ATX power supply, so finding a replacement should be easy if you ever need one.

There are seven expansion slots in total, so you can add more graphics cards or other expansion cards if you need to. The storage situation is excellent. Some units come with a 512 GB M.2 PCIe SSD and a 2 TB hard drive. There are also two empty bays for adding more storage later on. If you need even more space, you can always attach external storage devices via the USB Type-A or Thunderbolt 3 ports. The Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition is a great gaming desktop that’s been updated with AMD’s latest CPUs. It offers excellent performance and is easy to upgrade, though it is pricey.

03 MSI Aegis RS 11th Gen

The Aegis RS 11th Gen is MSI’s top-of-the-line gaming PC, packing a powerful Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card into a compact desktop chassis. It’s also one of the first PCs to feature MSI’s new Silent Storm Cooling 3 Pro technology, which promises to keep things cool and quiet even under heavy load.

The Aegis RS 11th Gen is a small form factor (SFF) desktop PC, meaning it’s designed to take up less space on your desk than a traditional tower PC. It’s still fairly large for an SFF PC, though, measuring in at 17.2 x 15.9 x 8.5 inches (HWD). That makes it just a bit larger than the Corsair ONE i160 (16.9 x 8.3 x 16.7 inches), but smaller than the Alienware Aurora R11 (17.22 x 14.17 x 8.27 inches).

The chassis is made mostly of black plastic, with some red accents on the front panel and around the power button. The left side panel is made of tempered glass, letting you see inside the PC to admire the components. There are four RGB LED light strips inside the case: two in the front, one in the back, and one under the transparent bottom panel. You can control the lights using MSI’s Mystic Light software.

The front panel is fairly simple, with just a power button and a USB Type-A port. The back panel is where you’ll find all of the ports and connections, including four USB Type-A ports, two USB Type-C ports, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, a DVI-D port, an Ethernet jack, and audio jacks.

Inside the Aegis RS 11th Gen, there’s plenty of space to work with, thanks to the large mid-tower chassis. The motherboard is mounted horizontally, which gives you easy access to the CPU socket and memory slots. There are also three PCIe x16 slots (two of which are occupied by the graphics card and M.2 SSD), four PCIe x1 slots, and two SATA III ports.

The CPU is a 10th Gen Intel Core i9-10900K, a powerful processor that’s designed for gaming and other demanding tasks. It has a base clock speed of 3.7GHz and a boost clock speed of 5.3GHz. The GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the most powerful consumer graphics card on the market right now. It has 11GB of GDDR6 VRAM and can handle 4K gaming at high frame rates.

For storage, there’s a 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD and a 2 TB 7200 rpm hard drive. The SSD is plenty fast for booting up Windows and loading games, and the hard drive provides extra storage space for your files and games.

The cooling system features MSI’s Silent Storm Cooling 3 Pro technology, which includes three 120mm fans and seven heat pipes. The CPU and GPU each have their own dedicated heatsink and fan, so they should stay cool even under heavy loads. There’s also a large exhaust fan in the back of the case to help expel hot air.

To keep noise levels down, MSI has included sound-dampening material on the side panels and front panel. The company also claims that the Silent Storm Cooling 3 Pro system is designed to minimize turbulence, so the fans don’t have to spin as fast (and thus make as much noise) to keep things cool.

In our testing, the Aegis RS 11th Gen was able to handle everything we threw at it without breaking a sweat. It booted up quickly and loaded games quickly, thanks to the speedy SSD. Games ran smoothly at the highest settings, even at 4K resolution.

The CPU and GPU temperatures stayed cool even under heavy load, thanks to the effective cooling system. The fan noise was noticeable but not overbearing, and it was easily drowned out by the game audio.

Pros

  • Powerful gaming performace
  • Quiet fans

Cons

  • Subpar transfer speeds

Specification

  • Price $1,699.00
  • RAM 16 GB
  • Storage 1 TB
