The Best Alternatives to Primewire

The Best Alternatives to Primewire

Imagine making some popcorn, laying back and preparing to watch a movie, just to see your favorite movie and TV series streaming site isn’t working. This tends to happen a lot, since most of these are illegal. They either stop working for a short while, or they disappear completely.

This makes it very hard to rely on just a single website, because you can never know what’s going to happen to it or where to go if that one falls. Join us as we list some of the best Primewire alternatives to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.

SolarMovie

When it comes to a free Primewire alternative for watching new movies and TV series online, SolarMovie is among the best ones. It lets you choose to see only movies or TV series, their genre, the country they’re filmed in, etc. The filter option further helps access these options even easier.

SolarMovie

This site also marks each movie and series as “HD” and “CAM” for all the HD purists out there. Some other nice features include the IMdB score (even though it’s not always up to date), the number of episodes in a season, and the additional info that appears when you hover over a video.

MoviesJoy

In case SolarMovie doesn’t work either, try MoviesJoy. The only significant difference is that MoviesJoy also has the “SD” video quality mark. Everything else looks identical, even the interface and the menus.

MoviesJoy

This site is well-known because ads appear rarely and because there is an Android version on Google Play.

FMovies

FMovies is a site you can trust since it’s one of the oldest. It’s very simple to use, fast, and even lets you speed up boring parts. It can sort movies and shows in an alphabetical order and sort them by country, like other similar sites. However, this one has a huge list of countries, bigger than most other sites.

FMovies

Other features that FMovies offers are movie recommendations at the bottom of the one you’re currently watching, as well as the comments section.

CoolMovieZone

This is an interesting one. Although its interface is fairly complex, CoolMovieZone is a great site with a huge collection. Other than the newest Hollywood movies, it also has Bollywood and Telugu movies. You can watch movies in HD, but also download them in a range of popular formats. The supported ones are mp4, mov, wmv, flv, and 3gp.

CoolMovieZone

Another feature that not all sites have is a list of external links, which is great because server issues happen often.

VMovee

VMovee is a very straightforward site that only has a search bar and a “Browse” button. Unfortunately, ads pop up a lot on this site sometimes, and so you need more clicks to actually play the movie.

VMovee

Otherwise, this is a decent site that, once you open up a movie, lets you play it using another link. You won’t, however, get a list of similar movies, but the site has a random one if you like spicing things up.

Torrent Clients

Popcorn Time

Popcorn Time is one of the most popular movie streaming programs. However, since it’s a BitTorrent client, it both distributes movies and downloads them before playing, so you should be careful when using it. It works on Windows, Linux, Mac, and Android.

Since Popcorn Time basically downloads the movie, chances of lagging later on are reduced, making it a good choice for people with a poor internet connection. Also, if you prefer watching movies with subtitles, Popcorn Time still has you covered, as it can get a subtitle in a language of your choice within seconds.

YIFY

If you’re fine with downloading movies through a torrent client, you should try YIFY (or YTS). One of the best movie uploaders, YIFY always manages to provide users with a great quality-to-size ratio.

YTS

Its torrents are very fast and easy to download, and virus-free. Some even have English subtitles provided, but if you need others, there’s a link to the YTS Subtitles site on each movie’s download link. You can also select the movie quality by scrolling down, in the “Tech specs” category.

Legal Alternatives

Since most online streaming websites are illegal, they are near unusable in certain countries because of legal restrictions. This is where the legal alternatives are the only option.

YouTube

Sure, everybody knows about YouTube already, but did you know you can now watch some movies for free there? Most of these aren’t new, but there are some quite popular ones, such as Rocky, Legally Blonde, The Terminator, etc.

Tubi TV

Tubi TV  is a free-to-use movie streaming site that’s completely legal. Its collection isn’t the best around, but it has both old and new movies and shows. It also offers subtitles, and its stream speed is great, with guaranteed minimal buffer times. Last, but not the least, it’s available for Android and iOS, as well as various other platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, etc.

Sony Crackle

The Sony streaming website is interesting because it has some titles that most other similar sites do not. Spiderman, Men in Black, Seinfeld, etc. are available to watch for free. It requires you to make an account, but the good thing here is that Crackle will remember your preferences and give you recommendations based on them.

The only downside is, you’ve guessed it, the ads. Additionally, Sony Crackle isn’t available worldwide yet, but you can still visit it if you’re a VPN user.

Sit Back and Enjoy the Show

Whichever site you choose, don’t forget to enable your antivirus and ad-blocking software. Some of these might force you to disable them, so approach each paid alternative to Primewire with caution or just try some of the free alternatives. Finally, don’t forget to use your VPN for further increased security.

What’s your favorite movie? Did you manage to find it on Primewire or some of these sites? Let us know about your experiences in the comments below.
