Are eHarmony Matches Real? Or Are There Fake Profiles?

Before you sign up to eHarmony and complete your profile, you have the right to know whether the matches are real or not. eHarmony requires a particular commitment and not just in terms of your time. If you want to unlock all of the options, you’ll have to pay a membership fee.

Some profiles might seem too perfect with their beautiful photos, dazzling bios, and fancy job titles. But we assure you that eHarmony is a legit website, and there aren’t any fake profiles. Keep reading to learn more about the matching process.

How eHarmony Makes Sure Profiles Are Real?

First of all, we have to underline that eHarmony doesn’t create fake profiles on the platform. There’s no point in that because the app itself encourages people to get to know each other better, hoping that it’ll lead to a serious relationship or even marriage.

When it comes to user profiles, eHarmony has its ways to keep scammers away. First of all, its initial questionnaire’s so long and detailed that it would most likely discourage everyone from wasting their time on creating fake personalities. It’s not like they only have to write a phony name and add someone else’s photo. No. They’d have to take hours to invent a new personality.

eHarmony has a rigorous acceptance policy. It rejects almost 20% of people who apply to the website. Some of them get rejected because their profiles seem fake or suspicious, while others don’t seem serious enough or interested in a long-term relationship.

A high membership fee is the other factor that discourages scammers. In fact, eHarmony is one of the most expensive dating websites today. All users pay for it because they want to meet quality people, and they know they’re getting a good value for money. There aren’t many people who’d pay $59 a month just to prank strangers from fake profiles.

eHarmony’s Matching System Explained

eHarmony has one of the most complex matching systems that we’ve ever seen. But don’t let that turn you off, because that’s actually positive. The system is based on psychology and character traits, and it’ll match you with persons with whom you have above-average chances of succeeding.

Dr. Neil Clark Warren, a clinical psychologist and founder of the website, created this unique matching system. During his long career as a psychologist and marriage therapist, Warren managed to identify character traits that were causing disputes and problems in the relationships. Some of them are pretty unexpected.

When you join eHarmony, you’ll have to create a detailed profile and answer a lot of questions. Some of them may seem like a non-sense, but each one has its purpose. They serve to identify your character profile and the profile of the person you’re looking for.

Sometimes people can’t explain what they are looking for in a partner. That’s where science can help you eliminate people with character traits and opinions that aren’t compatible with yours.

It may be a dumb example, but if you’re a highly punctual person, eHarmony won’t match you with someone who openly says they’re always late, and they don’t care about time. Details like these can often go unnoticed, but in the long run, they can make or break a relationship.

Safety Precautions

If you’re worried about your safety, we can assure you that eHarmony is one of the most reliable online dating services. You may be afraid that someone could misuse your photos. But don’t worry as your photos won’t be available to just anyone.

Only people who end up being compatible with you can see your photos. That eliminates more than 90% of the users. Since we’re talking about it, you could interpret it as one of the few downsides of this website. You’ll be able to see only the people the site has matched you with.

On the one hand, eHarmony makes the whole process easier and quicker for you. You won’t have to swipe through thousands of profiles with whom you don’t have anything in common. Right from the start, they’ll choose only the optimal users for you. But on the other hand, it might be too limiting for some.

Michael says:
Well for me 60-70% of my “matches” have no picture and of those most either have no profile or just one or two questions. So are there fake profiles I have to say yes. I am not encouraged to communicate with blank people, eharmony has scammed me!
Sol says:
I met a guy here named George McGregor 3 months ago and I think he is fake. Have not met yet but professed love quickly and lately ask money help and got angry when I refused and dumped me!

Pat says:
I had a similar experience with David from Walla Walla, Washington. He wanted to get off the eHarmony site quickly. I reported him. The site removed him. Then he seemed to have my home phone number. I deleted his message. Then he had a new name and picture on eHarmony. He had a different Washington state city, not widowed, no kids…but same modus operandi: “Tell me more about yourself. I’ll tell you about me later…” Let’s meet. “Let’s exchange real emails and phone numers (fast).”

Scammers!
