How To Clear Cache On LG V20

Posted by RecomHub on December 5, 2018

Your LG V20 smartphone, like any Android device, may sometimes develop problems or instability. Fortunately these problems are usually pretty simple to resolve. If a problem is really severe, there may be no other solution than to do a complete factory reset. However, many problems can be solved with a much less drastic step: a cache wipe. If your smartphone is experiencing delays or glitches, or just seems slow, then wiping the cache can often fix those problems. In this article, I’ll give you a brief tutorial on your LG V20’s cache and how to clear it.

What is the cache and what does it do?

Cache is memory set aside for the use of an application or operating system. There are two different types of cache on the LG V20. The first is the app cache, while the other is system cache. Each app on your LG V20 has its own cache. This cache allows for temporary data to be stored, allowing quick application switching and keeping your app’s status updated. The system cache on the LG V20 does the same thing, but for the Android software instead of each individual app. That’s why when there are issues with apps crashing or freezing, it’s best to clear the system cache wipe to help fix this issue.

How to clear the app cache on the LG V20

For problems that are just happening on one specific app, it’s best to first try to clear the app cache. You can clear the app cache with these instructions:

  1. Turn on your LG V20
  2. Go to Settings > App Manager
  3. Select the app you want to clear the cache for
  4. After you’ve selected the app, look for the app info screen
  5. Select Clear Cache
  6. To clear the app cache for all apps, go to Settings > Storage
  7. Select Cached Data to clear all app caches simultaneously

Don’t select Clear Data unless you want to lose all the information that app stores, like passwords, game progress, preferences and settings.

What should I do when clearing the app cache doesn’t help?

If you have cleared the cache of the individual apps but the problem with your LG V20 is still happening, the next best option is to uninstall the app and reboot the device. It’s important to note that before you reset the LG V20, you should back up all data to prevent anything from being lost during the reboot process. After rebooting the LG V20, and the problem is still happening, then it’s suggested that you perform a system cache wipe, also known as clearing the cache partition on the LG V20.

If the problems persist the next stage is to factory reset the LG V20.
