For those that own a Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, you may want to know how to root the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge. The reason you would want to root the Galaxy S7 is because some apps on the Google Play Store still require root privileges given how Android is designed. The package that is used to obtain these escalated permissions comes from Chainfire which is a small package that is loaded into Odin and sent to your device to obtain root.

How to root Samsung Galaxy S7 using CF-Auto-Root 

  1. Turn off the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge
  2. Go to download mode by holding the HomePower and Volume Down buttons together for a few seconds.
  3. Make sure that the Galaxy S7 USB drivers are installed on the computer
  4. Open Odin on your computer
  5. Connect the Galaxy S7 to the computer using USB cable while it is in Download mode
  6. In Odin click the AP button and select the downloaded file
  7. Ensure the Auto-reboot and Reset Time options are not selected in Odin, but uncheck the Repartition button
  8. Hit the Start button in Odin
  9. After the installation process is completed, the phone will reboot
  10. You can safely unplug the phone from the computer once the home screen shows up
