Apple Expands OS X 10.10.3 Preview to Public Beta Program

Registered developers have had access to prerelease builds OS X 10.10.3 for a few weeks now, but Apple today is giving the public a taste with the release of a new OS X 10.10.3 Public Beta build. The build is available to those who signed up for the OS X Public Beta program and includes Photos for OS X, the new app that is replacing both iPhoto and Aperture for desktop OS X photo management and editing.

The OS X 10.10.3 Public Beta build is slightly ahead of the developer path, with a build number of 14D87p, compared to 14D87h, which was released to developers last week. Those in the OS X Public Beta Program can find the 10.10.3 update in the Updates tab of the Mac App Store.

There’s no word on when the final version of 10.10.3 will be released, but new features in addition to the Photos app include new emoji options and support for multi-factor authentication for Google accounts set up in System Preferences, along with the usual set of performance improvements and bug fixes.
