Screen Rotation On iPhone X (Solved)

Having used your iPhone X for some time now, you might bump into some issues which you should be able to fix. One of these issues which has been reported by some users is the screen rotation not working. The screen rotation might fail to work because the gyroscope and the accelerometer have also stopped working. This problem can really be stressing especially if you try to turn on the screen rotation severally without seeing any changes in the layout of your screen. With this problem, your screen will remain in the vertical layout and fails to go into the horizontal layout even if the camera is moved.

If you are experiencing this problem, you may also notice that your camera shows everything in an inverted position.

Try out the solutions provided below, however, if none of them works, you need to consider the fact that a software bug could have corrupted your software which means you to update your iPhone X or iPhone X software to a new version.

iPhone X Screen Rotation Not Working

Two solutions are recommended to try and fix this problem. One of them is to try and hard reset your iPhone X.

Alternatively, try to check the lock screen option. You can unlock the Portrait Orientation Lock Feature using the instructions provided below;

  •         Turn on your iPhone X.
  •         Go to your Home screen and swipe the screen up from the bottom.
  •         Tap on the lock icon. You can find it in the in the right corner of your screen.
  •         To check if the screen rotation is working, change the orientation of your screen.

In case your service carrier has disabled access to the service screen, your only alternative would be to reset to factory defaults. You can learn how to factory reset the Apple iPhone X by reading this guide.

You also still have to check this issue with your service provider first. This is because they may already know that you are facing this problem and hence may have a solution for you.

You can also try hitting your iPhone X gently with the back of your hand. This will give the iPhone a jolt but you must be very careful because we don’t want you damaging your smartphone any further.

The best alternative as earlier mentioned when everything else fails is to try a hard reset of your iPhone X. Note however that a hard reset erases your entire storage as well as settings as saved passwords. As such you should find it necessary to back up your iPhone X to avoid losing any important data. You can back up your data by following these prompts;

Settings > Backup & Reset.

To perform a hard reset on your iPhone X, read the guide provided here.
