How to Take the Nest Hello Off the Wall

Since its launch in the spring of 2018, the Google Nest Hello has come a long way. Its many benefits include high-quality HD imaging even at night, and more importantly, it doubles up as your front door CCTV. But despite these benefits, there’s still the overarching feeling that the Nest Hello is not easy to install or uninstall.

In this article, we’ll see how to take the device off the wall.

Reports of Delayed Notifications

The issues mentioned above aren’t irresolvable by any means. What appears to be more problematic for the Nest Hello are numerous complaints about delayed notifications by its users.

Considering Google claims the Nest Hello can serve the purposes of both a doorbell and a basic front door security system, delayed notifications are the last thing users would expect.

Fortunately, Google has acknowledged the problems but has claimed that there are no issues innate to the Nest Hello itself. Such problems are either arising because of network or server issues.

That’s the reason that Google recommends that you call one of their experts to install the Nest Hello, especially if you’re buying it with the indoor power adapter, for which you would need to drill a hole through your exterior wall.

But despite these issues, the overall verdict has been very positive for the Google Nest Hello. The company seems to have made the right move with the acquisition of Nest Labs, the original creator of Hello’s prototype. Likely, the quality of Google’s integrated doorbell system will only get better in the times to come.

How to Take the Nest Hello Off the Wall?

There could be any number of reasons you want to get the Nest Hello off your front wall. Maybe you’re not completely pleased with the camera view you’re getting, or maybe you’re not satisfied with the product itself. But whatever the reason, getting the Nest Hello off the wall is quite easy and less time-consuming than installing it.

Before we discuss how to remove the Nest Hello off the wall, we should first go over the installation process. The Nest Hello is installed somewhere close to your front door, which helps it provide a 160° field view. It’s quite simple to install if your doorbell system and home meet the technical criteria.

The Nest is designed to snap into a wall mount. So, to get it off the wall, you’d need to unmount it.

Follow these steps to get the Nest Hello of the wall.

Step One

Since the Nest Hello is snapped into a wall mount, you’ll need to remove the camera from the base. To do this, you can either use the release tool, which comes included with the Nest Hello package or an unfolded paperclip. The release tool is similar to the one you use while trying to open the SIM card holder of your phone.

Now insert the release tool into the hole on the bottom of the Nest Hello.

Step Two

Even as you insert the release tool, press upward using your other hand until the Hello snaps off the base. Be careful while pushing the Nest Hello upward as you don’t want to use too much force, or the camera may come unstuck.

Step Three

Now, grip the bottom of the camera and pull it away from the wall. It will come right off of its base.

The Nest Hello Is Easy to Install and Uninstall

The Google Nest Hello, barring the compatibility issues, is not too difficult to install. But unless you’re comfortable working with electricity, we’d recommend that you ask an expert to do it for you.

Luckily, uninstalling the Nest is even easier. You can do it yourself by following the steps mentioned in this write-up.

Have you had any problems uninstalling your Google Nest? If so, how did you solve them? Also, if you know an easier method to uninstall the bell, feel free to share it with everyone.
