How To Watch American Netflix in India

India is an amazing place with too much to see and do to want to spend too much time watching TV. The colors, smells, sights and sounds of the country are amazing and completely different to what we see here in the States. But, during the heat of midday, it is advisable to stay inside for a while and what better time to watch a little Netflix? But how can you watch American Netflix in India?

If you’re fortunate enough to be staying somewhere with reliable internet, you can access local Netflix content now the company offers the service on the continent. However, you will find the amount of content is far less than what you’re used to here in the US. If you want to watch your usual shows or movies, you’re going to need to convince Netflix you’re in the US, by using a VPN.

A VPN creates a secure encrypted tunnel from your device to the VPN server. It can then be transported anywhere within the provider’s network to exit at another point entirely. For example, a VPN provider with a US exit node will allow a computer in India to connect to its network and exit at that US node, thus fooling Netflix into thinking you’re in the States.

Not only does a VPN allow you to access geoblocked content, it also encrypts all of your traffic so nobody can spy on you or collect and sell your data.

To watch American Netflix in India, you need a VPN service with multiple exit nodes within the US. They must also offer exit nodes that don’t get picked up by Netflix and blocked or will change them quickly if they are blocked. All of the following providers have that.

ExpressVPN is a prime choice for watching American Netflix in India. Not only does it have multiple US exit nodes, it also works to ensure a reliable service for users. If it detects Netflix has blocked a particular IP address, it is changed and quickly back up and running again. There are also a range of exit nodes in different parts of the US so you can choose one close to your home or change server if one is blocked.

NordVPN also works hard to stay one step ahead of Netflix and ensure US exit nodes remain available. With over 400 servers across the country, if one is blocked, there are plenty of others to choose from. The number of servers also means traffic will be spread across them, keeping speeds to a sensible level. NordVPN is not the cheapest option but it is one of the most secure.

PrivateVPN will also enable you to watch American Netflix in India. With multiple US exit nodes in several cities, presence in other countries across the world and a reputation for reliability and speed, this provider is also worth checking out for accessing geoblocked content of all types.

CyberGhost is another reliable VPN provider with multiple US exit nodes. It has 683 servers in the States and works to stay ahead of blocking from all services including Netflix. With high speeds, good levels of privacy and a simple setup process, you can be up and running in less than five minutes. With mobile and computer apps and a user-friendly interface, this is worth checking out too.

Private Internet Access

Private Internet Access is my final suggestion for watching American Netflix in India. With a global presence including a number of US based exit nodes, a great reputation for speed and privacy and a good level of customer service, this VPN provider may be last in this list but certainly is not least.

Accessing Netflix from India

Each of these VPN providers have multiple US VPN servers so you can watch American Netflix in India or anywhere in the world. It is a game of cat and mouse though so nothing is guaranteed. One of the reasons I chose these five providers is that they all have numbers of servers in the US and they actively try to stay ahead of the server blocks.

Netflix is obliged by Hollywood to try to stop VPN access. As the licensing model differs by country, the studios want to get as much money as possible from each. Allowing somewhere that would traditionally pay more to access for cheap using a VPN annoys them. They put pressure on Netflix to disrupt VPN access, hence the game of cat and mouse.

If you find one US exit node doesn’t work, just try another. With hundreds to choose from and most VPN apps allowing you to quickly switch from one to another, you’ll soon be getting a taste of home wherever in the world you might be!
