Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus Vibrates When Picked Up

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are filled with all kinds of cool features. More often than not, you have more than one instrument for achieving the same thing. Today we’re going to talk about one of those instances that actually make some users think there’s something wrong with their devices.

Did you ever pick up your smartphone and felt a short vibration with no apparent reason? It’s something you can experience not just on Galaxy S8, but also on Galaxy S6 or S5 as well as Note 5 or Note 4. Long story short, the device isn’t vibrating without reason. What you’re dealing with is the Smart Alert feature, trying to tell you that you have unread notifications waiting for you to check them on the phone.

If you haven’t used it in a couple of hours or even less, and you have an unread text message or a missed call, the Smart Alert will let you know about it before you get the chance to wake up the screen. It’s the same thing that the LED notification light does, blinking in different colors depending on the nature of the unread notification from your screen.

And just like the LED notification light, the Smart Alert feature is enabled by default and can be easily disabled.

How to stop your Galaxy S8 from vibrating when you pick it up:

  1. Swipe down the Notification shade;
  2. Tap on the Settings icon;
  3. Select the Device tab;
  4. Select the Advanced Features;
  5. Identify the Smart Alert option;
  6. Tap on it and toggle its switch from On to Off.

That’s all it takes to make a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus stop vibrating when you pick it up and it has missed calls or unread messages to report.
