Does Galaxy S9 And Galaxy S9 Plus Have LED Notification

If you’re new to the Samsung series, then you probably don’t know much about its LED notification feature, though it’s hardly the only phone series to have a similar feature.

One of the perks of owning a Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is its LED notification option. Basically, aside from your typical alarms that will signify various different notifications, your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus can also tell you that you have a notification by using LED signals.

The LED light just beside the front camera of your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus flashes when you have unread notifications. This spares you from having to unlock your phone, or even from having to go near your phone if it’s on the other side of the room and you can’t be bothered to get up, when you just want to know if you have notifications or not.

Aside from this, you can also designate a particular color for particular contacts using third party apps. For example, if your default LED color is blue, but you would like to know if it is a message from your boss and thus a message you should probably actually acknowledge, then maybe you would rather set his or her LED notification color to red. So, every time your boss contacts you, you would already know that the notification is from him or her just by glancing at your phone.

Enabling or Disabling your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus

Here’s how you can simply enable or disable your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus LED feature:

  1. Go to your Home screen.
  2. Swipe the Navigation shade downwards.
  3. Select the gear icon.
  4. Look for and tap the Display menu.
  5. Select LED Indicator.
  6. Toggle its switch on or off as you please.

If you turn the LED notification off, then you will no longer receive any LED signals from your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus whenever you receive notifications, calls, text messages, or even missed calls. You won’t be able to tell at a glance if you have a message, but your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus will still make its usual sounds.

If you’d like to customize the LED notifications even further, then you’ll need a third party app for that. Although these settings aren’t available by default, the Galaxy S9’s LED indicator has a range of colors that it can display. It can also be set up to flash in different patterns to convey information about your unread notifications. We recommend Light Manager, which is available through the Google Play Store. There’s a lot of documentation on the app available, including helpful reviews. If you aren’t satisfied with this particular app, there are many others available to customize your LED notifications.
