How To Change Vibration Settings On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus

The vibrations on your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone might look like a simple feature. But if you take the time to go through its settings and see the options that you can personalize on this chapter, you could actually be impressed. The fact is that your device can vibrate when you receive notifications, when you type texts, when you touch the display and in several other contexts.

For any of these situations, you might be able to set up a vibration style. It might sound complicated, but it’s actually simpler than you’d think.

How to adjust the vibration intensity on your smartphone

Have you noticed that your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone boasts an impressive tactile response for your typing or message notifications? If you like the way the phone vibrates, leave it like that. If you feel you’d like to adjust these vibrations or if you’re just curious about your options, here’s how you can customize this feature:

  1. Open the Notification Shade by swiping down from the top of the screen;
  2. Tap on the gear icon from the top-right corner and open the Settings;
  3. Select Sounds and Vibration;
  4. Tap on Vibration Intensity;
  5. At this point, you get three different options that you can customize – Incoming call, Notifications, Vibration Feedback – the last one being for the screen tapping; just move their sliders as you see fit, to increase or to decrease the vibration intensity on any of these three categories.

You’ll know when you’ve got the right setting because the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will vibrate on that specific intensity as you tackle the intensity levels. Otherwise said, what you feel now is what you’ll get if you settle for that particular vibration level.

How to change the vibration pattern on your smartphone

If you think you could use a stronger vibration, so you will feel it even when the phone vibrates from your bag or pocket, you can change not just the intensity, but also the pattern. This will result in a much stronger effect, making different vibration notifications more obvious:

  1. Get back to the Notification shade and access the Settings;
  2. Head to Sounds and Vibration;
  3. Tap on the Vibration Pattern;
  4. Analyze the options available in there, choosing between:
    • Basic Call – this one will provide a continuous, even vibration;
    • Heartbeat – this one will generate double vibrations, the kind of pulsing vibration;
    • Ticktock – this one will trigger two long vibrations of identical intensity and duration;
    • Waltz – this one will alternate a long vibration with two other quick vibrations as the standard pattern;
    • Zig-zig-zig – this one will reproduce three even vibrations.
