How To Connect Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus To TV

Samsung has released their new flagship phone, the Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S9 Plus. This giant company has re-introduced the ability to connect the phone to a big screen to display its contents. Connecting your Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to a TV is simple and straightforward. Once you try it, you will instantly get used to it. In this article, Recomhub will teach you two different methods you can choose to connect the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus to your TV, projector or monitor, letting you enjoy videos, games and more on the big screen.

How to Connect your Samsung to a TV

There are two different methods to connect your Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to a TV:

  1. Local Wi-Fi network
  2. Wired connection

You will be able to mirror the content of the smartphone to the TV with the two methods above. Therefore, no matter which of the two ways you choose, the result will be the same.

Note that the user manual inside the original Galaxy and Galaxy Edge released after 2015 as well as the recent Smart TVs from Samsung, featuring the Bluetooth Low Energy support, makes the most straightforward mirroring process you will ever get. All you need to do is turn on the smartphone and launch the notification pane, then place the phone next to the TV.

  1. Tap on Quick Connect from there
  2. Scan for nearby devices
  3. As soon as the phone identifies your TV, tap on it
  4. Click on Register TV
  5. Tap on the TV icon with an arrow when it shows up, and you can start mirroring your smartphone content
  6. You can open a file and hit the Share button if you want to play a media file on the TV
  7. Click on the Smart View button that will display at the bottom
  8. Click on your TV from the list of devices that will pop up on the Samsung screen and the media file that appear on your TV screen

You can reverse this process; this would require you to select the TV to Mobile Device option from the Quick Connect area of the Notification pane to mirror something from the TV to the screen of the phone.

You can also connect your Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to the TV using the alternatives steps above:

  1. Chromecast
  2. Miracast mirroring
  3. A wired MHL connection

Connect Galaxy S9 to TV Using Google Chromecast

Chromecast remains one of the simplest ways to stream videos or mirror your phone’s display to your TV. What you should do here is:

  1. Install the Chromecast dedicated app
  2. Connect your Chromecast dongle to the TV
  3. Once it’s active, you will be able to display Chrome tabs, Play Music and YouTube videos on the screen of your TV

Sharing photos from your holiday with the entire family, watching funny videos and control playback from inside the app itself will be much easier on the large screen of the TV.

Connect Galaxy S9 to TV Using Miracast Mirroring

Many TVs of other brands successfully support this method, and you can use it with your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus. To use this feature, navigate back to the Quick Connect button from the Notification panel and Scan for nearby devices. Select your TV from the listed results.

If you can’t find your TV on that list, it’s most likely that the Miracast feature isn’t compatible with the TV and in this case, you can try using:

  • The Fire TV Stick from Amazon
  • The AllShare and HomeSync cast dongles from Samsung

Connect Galaxy S9 to TV Using Wired MHL Connection

This method is a popular option up until Samsung Galaxy S6, but the company took a controversial decision and removed the support for Android phone via MHL – HDMI. The new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus didn’t have the wired MHL connection support anymore, and this is an attempt to force the consumers into buying Samsung’s dedicated mirroring products.
