How To Download Firefox *Without* A Web Browser

In the Linux environment, it’s easy to install Firefox without a browser. An example would be sudo apt-get install firefox. In Windows however, the way you do the no-browser way is via FTP.

Why would you need to know how to do this? As it states in the video, if you’re ever put into the situation where you cannot load the Firefox web site to download an alternative browser in Windows due to a compromised IE, you basically have four options.

1. Email the installer file to yourself from another computer and use a mail client to retrieve the installer file.

2. Go to another computer, download the Firefox installer, burn to disc or copy to USB stick, then physically bring that to the computer you want to install Firefox on

3. Place the file on a shared network drive on your home network and retrieve the installer file that way.

4. Use FTP and download the installer.

The video below shows the FTP way of doing it.
