For those that own a Huawei P9, you may want to know to get the Huawei P9 to read text or speak the text. The process to use dictation to speak the text is a simple process and is very easy to do. While on other smartphones, you may need to go to the Google Play Store and download app named Text-to-Speech to get the smartphone to read text out loud.

Using the Huawei P9 feature this allows you to read text out loud, which makes the Huawei P9 to speak translations, a book and many more cool things. You can also use the read text feature on the Huawei P9 for different languages besides English.

The following is a step by step guide on how to set up the Huawei P9 to read text allowed and make life much easier.

 

How To Get Huawei P9 To Read Text:

  1. Turn on the Huawei P9.
  2. Go to the Huawei P9 home screen.
  3. Select on Settings.
  4. Navigate to System.
  5. Select Language & input.
  6. Hit Text-to-speech options under Speech section.
  7. Choose the TTS engine you want to use:
    • Huawei text-to-speech engine.
    • Google Text-to-speech engine.
  8. Next to the search engine, select the Settings icon.
  9. Select Install voice data.
  10. Hit Download.
  11. Now wait for the language to be downloaded.
  12. Select the Back key.
  13. Select Language.

 

After you have followed the steps above to get your Huawei P9 to read text, go to the Home screen, select Apps and then select Voice. After you get to Voice, select the Recent Apps key and then select Set driving mode on. To turn off driving mode touch the Recent Apps key again and then touch Set driving mode off.

It’s important to note that the Huawei P9 read text feature is not meant for those that are visually impaired, as the Huawei P9 will speak everything you do in real time, like which menu screen you’re on, where you’re tapping, and what your notifications say.
