How To Show All Apps On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus Home Screen

As an Android user, you must be well aware of your options. But there is still one thing that many people don’t really get, especially when not paying too much attention to it – that would be the difference between the Home screen and the App drawer, both of which seem to display the icons of many apps and widgets running on your Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone.

Needless to insist on this, iOS users don’t have to worry about anything like this, since all their apps are sitting in one place. But Androids are special and if you’ve taken the decision to use one, you’d better learn as much as you can about it.

While you’re right to ask yourself why would you need to keep the same apps in two different places and if there are any differences you should know about, here are the facts:

  • Both environments will show you icons of apps, but the Apps drawer is the one where you will be able to see everything currently installed on your smartphone;
  • When you install a new app, it will show in the App drawer and, if you haven’t selected otherwise from the Play Store, a shortcut will automatically appear on the Home screen;
  • When you delete something from the App drawer, it will also disappear from the Home screen, but not the other way around;
  • With the Galaxy Labs, Samsung decided to make an experiment and reunite these two environments;
  • The new feature should hide the App drawer and let you see all your apps right on the Home screen of the Galaxy S8 smartphone.

To hide the App Drawer on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus:

  1. Access the Settings from the App drawer or from the Notification shade;
  2. Go to the Advanced Features menu and access it;
  3. Select the Galaxy Labs submenu;
  4. Once you’ve reached that page, suffices to hit the button labeled as Start and you will give your consent to try the latest experimental functions;
  5. You will be redirected to a new page, where you should have two options to choose from;
  6. Select the option labeled as “Show all apps on Home screen”;
  7. Confirm that you want to do this by selecting the OK button on the popup notification;
  8. Leave the menus and head back to the Home screen to admire and enjoy the change.

As mentioned, this is something experimental and Samsung didn’t activate it by default. Moreover, not all the carriers are offering this option to their customers so, if you have followed the path indicated above but couldn’t find or couldn’t select this feature, it looks like you won’t be able to try it.

You could ask your carrier about it, though this won’t give you more chances to get access. In the event that more users are beginning to ask about it, however, the carrier might reconsider making the Galaxy Labs Advanced Features page available for everyone.

Nevertheless, if you were able to follow these steps and hide the App drawer, you can already see that all your app icons were moved on the Home screen of your Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone. Depending on how many apps you have, the device might automatically create a couple of new Home screen panels, to make room for all the icons.

One thing to remember – this change tends to remove all the widgets you initially had on the Home screen, so you will need to add those widgets once again.
