How to Return a Kindle Book on Amazon
Do you love reading? There’s nothing quite like the feel and smell of a book. But one can’t argue the convenience of a Kindle device.
But what happens if you purchase a wrong eBook from Amazon? Can you return it and get a refund? Accidental purchases happen with eBooks as well. Fortunately, you can return the Kindle book. But there are a few limitations to keep in mind.
Getting the Full Refund
Purchasing the next book on your reading list takes a few clicks or taps. You can do it through your Kindle device or Amazon’s website. And you can return the book in both cases and get a full refund.
Canceling the Order on Kindle
If you made a few wrong taps on your Kindle screen and now you’re stuck with the wrong book, that’s ok. As long as you have realized your mistake while you’re still on the purchase confirmation screen, it’s an easy fix. Here’s what you need to:
- Skip the “Go to Library” and “Continue Shopping” options.
- Look for “Purchased by accident? Cancel order” and click on it.
This action will remove the book from your library instantly. You will get a full refund, and it will be as if nothing happened.
However, if the purchase confirmation screen is closed by the time you figure out that you didn’t want the book, you can’t cancel the order this way. But it’s still not too late. You can go to the Amazon website and return the book that way.
Returning a Kindle Book Through the Amazon Website
If you’ve moved on from the purchase confirmation screen, not all is lost yet. You have seven days to return the Kindle book you’ve purchased.
After a week, though, you won’t be able to return the book anymore. The process of returning a Kindle book through the site is pretty simple. Just follow these steps.
- Go to Amazon and log into your account.
- Select “Content”.
- Search for the Kindle book you’d like to return.
- Click on the three dots icon on the left next to the title.
- Choose “Return for Refund.”
- Choose a reason why you’re returning it and then select “Return for Refund” again.
You can go through this process as many times as necessary, and as long as it’s within that seven-day time frame.
What Is Amazon Prime Reading?
The only thing better than a book is a free book. Prime Reading is a fantastic feature of Amazon Prime subscription. And the best part is, you don’t even have to own a Kindle to use it. You can just download the Kindle app on your device.
You can get the app on your Kindle Fire tablet or download it from the App Store or Play store. But you can also use the Amazon Cloud Reader web app. It’s a wonderful way to get access to an online library.
You can check out many books and magazines and read them whenever you want. But after you’ve reached the 10-book limit, you have to return one to get another. The library has a little over 1,000 titles now.
And even though Amazon isn’t adding books every day, the library is slowly growing. And there will always be something new to discover and read.
Building Your Personal Kindle Library
It’s good to know that you can return a book you bought, thinking it was going to be great, but it turned out bad. Also, accidental Kindle book orders can be a bit frustrating.
Finally, when you’re not sure about a particular book, there’s a chance you can find it in the Prime Reading library.
