How to Reset my Password on iPhone 10

Most people will tell you that the only way to solve this problem is to reset the password by performing a hard factory reset. Different Methods To Reset Passwords on iPhone 10

To reset your password on your iPhone 10 you need to erase your device. However, this action deletes all of your data and settings. Unless you made a backup before you reset your password, retrieving your device’s data and settings after erasing your device is impossible. Here are the possible ways to erase your device:

  • If your iPhone 10 is synced with iTunes, use iTunes.
  • Should your iPhone 10 be signed in to iCloud and Find My iPhone is turned on, use iCloud.
  • If you cannot sync or connect to iTunes, or not signed in to iCloud, use the recovery mode method instead.

Using iTunes to Reset iPhone 10

Have you ever synced or connected your device with iTunes? If you did, then you can restore your device from there and reset its password by following these steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone 10 to a computer.
  2. Launch iTunes and follow all prompts displayed. If asked for a passcode, try another computer you’ve synced with, or use recovery mode.
  3. iTunes will sync your device and make a backup. This may take a while.
  4. After the sync and the backup process has been done, select Restore [Device].

Erasing your device to reset your password using iCloud will only work if you have turned on the Find My iPhone option. To restore device using this option, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that your locked iPhone 10 has an active Wi-Fi or Cellular Data connection then use another device to log in into your iCloud account.
  2. From that device, open iCloud.com/find and use your Apple ID for authentication.
  3. At the top of the browser, select All Devices.
  4. Select your iPhone 10.
  5. Select Erase [Device] then select one from the main options: Set up as new or Restore from a backup.
  6. Confirm the action and wait for the process to finish.

Using Recovery Mode to Reset iPhone 10

If you have never synced with iTunes or set up Find My iPhone in iCloud, you’ll have to use Recovery Mode to reset your device’s password. To utilize recovery mode, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone 10 to a computer and open iTunes. If you do not have a personal computer, you can also go to any Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
  2. While your device is connected, Force Restart it by following these steps: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button. Keep holding until you see the recovery-mode screen.
  3. When the option to Restore or Update appears, choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Wait for it to finish, then you can set up and use your device.
