How To Turn On Predictive Text On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus

The Predictive text feature of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus is pretty controversial. If you haven’t made up your mind about it yet, perhaps you didn’t get to test it and know its features better. In today’s article, we’d like to share with you a couple of tips on how to turn on predictive text and, most importantly, how to avoid some of the roadblocks that many complain of.

Reason number one why someone would be annoyed by the auto correct is that it can sometimes make the wrong predictions. Instead of turning it off for good, why not have a little patience and train this feature to learn your favorite words on the go? As you correct its… corrections with one click after another, soon enough, you will no longer bump into this particular situation. Feeling confused?

How to add words to Galaxy S8 dictionary

The reason why your smartphone is modifying the words that you type is the Auto replacement function that comes activated by default. This function will automatically change the words that it considers wrong or inappropriate for that context with similar words.

When this happens, the function will replace the word as soon as you have pressed the space bar. To correct that word, you just have to tap on it and you will get a menu with a couple of suggestions, your initial word included. With another tap on that word that you want to keep, the text will modify once gain. At the same time, the auto correct will “learn” and remember this word. Next time when you will use it, the feature will no longer correct it.

Judging by the fact that we mostly use the same words in our day-to-day communication, it becomes obvious that, eventually, you will no longer have to fight with this problem.

If you tried our suggestions from above and you weren’t happy or you’ve just lost patience and you no longer want to lose another minute with it, all you have to do is to:

  1. Access the general Settings of your Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus;
  2. Tap on Language and Input;
  3. Select the Samsung keyboard;
  4. Tap on Smart Typing;
  5. Under this section, turn off the features that you no longer want to use:

  • The predictive text – suggestions of words right under the keyboard field;
  • Auto replace – the function that replaces your “incorrect” words automatically;
  • Auto check spelling – the function that underlines in red the spelling errors;
  • Auto spacing – the function that adds spaces in between the words you type;
  • Auto punctuation – the function that inserts periods and apostrophes wherever it sees fit.

As you’ve reached this last part, you are probably discovering for the first time all those cool features that your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone can offer through the Smart Typing feature. Better think twice before you dismiss any of these options!
