Ugreen Unveils NASync Network Attached Storage

Ugreen — known for its chargers, cables, and docks — is taking a substantial leap forward by changing how you store data. At CES 2024, the company announced its collaboration with Intel and took the wraps off the Ugreen NASync Series, its first-ever Network Attached Storage solution.

The NASync series promises to take care of all your basic storage and streaming needs. It can help with video streaming and encoding, act as a local file server, provide secured data storage, and many traditional home server features packed in a sleek, strong, durable box. 

The lineup offers six different models: 2-, 4-, 6-, 8-bay, and all-flash NAS solutions. Whether you want a storage device for your personal or business use, Ugreen has a tailored NASync solution for your needs. 

Storage 

No matter which variant you pick, there is sufficient space to securely store your data and plenty of room to add more. You have the option to use the SSD as a cache or storage. Using an SSD used as a cache will help boost the data read and write speeds. 

Ugreen NASync Series Specifications

The DXP2800 model, ideal for home use, comes with 8GB RAM, which is expandable up to 16GB. It also has 32GB eMMC storage, two SATA drive bays and two M2. SSD slots for a total storage of 52TB. 

If that is not enough storage for your needs, there are two models in the lineup that offer four drive bays, the DXP800 and DXP4800 Plus. While the standard variant comes with the same memory and storage as the DX2800, you can extend the storage capacity to up to 88TB.   

The Plus model packs 8GB DDR5 RAM (expandable up to 32GB), and 128GB SSD, which is expandable up to 8TB. With the four expansion slots, you can stretch the capacity to up to 88TB. These options are ideal for small businesses.

For large businesses, there are two options: the DXP6800 Pro and DXP8800 Plus. While both pack 8GB DDR5 RAM (expandable up to 32GB) and 128GB SSD (expandable up to 8TB), the DXP6800 Pro boosts six drive bays compared to the DXP8800 Plus’ eight drive bays. 

With the Pro model, you can add up to 132TB of additional storage. On the Plus model, you can expand the storage to a whopping 176TB. 

There is also a compact model, the DXP480 T Plus, most suitable for creative professionals, that only uses internal NCMe drives. It’s loaded with 8GB DDR5 RAM and 128GB SDD, expandable up to 32GB and 16TB, respectively.

Performance 

There is a mix of different chipsets at the heart of devices across the series. The DXP2800 and DXP4800 use Intel’s 12th generation N series N100 processor with 4 cores and 4 threads that are powerful enough to handle basic tasks.

The DXP4800 Plus houses Intel’s 12th generation Pentium 8505 Gold processor, which has 5 cores and 6 threads. 

For the flagship models, the DXP6800 Pro, DXP8800 Plus, and DXP480T Plus, Ugreen has opted for Intel’s 12th-generation i5 1235u processor, which features 10 cores and 12 threads for responsive operation, seamless multitasking, and efficient data processing. 

Connectivity   

Ugreen’s NASync lineup covers all the basics when it comes to connectivity. The entire lineup houses all the essential ports. 

The DXP2800 features one 2nd Gen Type-C port, one 2nd Gen USB 3 port, one 1st Gen USB 3 port, and two USB 2.0 ports. The DXP4800 and DXP4800 Plus offer the same ports as the DXP2800 with the addition of a 3rd Gen SD card reader. 

With the DXP6800 Pro and DXP8800 Plus, you get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and a 4th Gen SD card reader. The DXP480T is the only model in the lineup with built-in Wi-Fi. It also has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB 3.2 port.

For LAN connectivity, the DXP2800 has one 2.5GbE port, the DXP4800 has two 2.5GbE ports, and the DXP4800 Plus has one 2.5GbE port and one 10GbE port. Both the DXP6800 Pro and DXP800 Plus offer two 10GbE ports. The DXP480T Plus features one 10GbE port. 

With the standard models – the DXP2800, DXP4800, and DXP4800 Plus – you can stream media through HDMI port in 4K resolution, while the flagship variants – the DXP6800 Pro, DXP8800 Plus, and DXP480T Plus – can steam content in 8K resolution. 

Moreover, Ugeen promises an all-in-one app with a user-friendly interface that allows you to transfer files from any device, stream movies, access photos, and effortlessly manage files. Its integrated smart assistant uses AI to recognize and classify images into various categories: people, places, and pets. And using the search feature, you can easily find images by text.
