Virtualization Benchmark Showdown – Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox
Cinebench R15 is a cross-platform benchmark based upon Maxon’s Cinema 4D graphics software. It measures a system’s performance in terms of OpenGL GPU power as well as single- and multi-threaded rendering capabilities. Unfortunately, neither Fusion 7 nor VirtualBox support the GPU test, so only the rendering results are reported. The results for multi-core and single-core performance are measured in proprietary “points,” with higher points equating to better performance.
Parallels 10 shows better multi-core efficiency and wins that category by about 13 percent. The scores for single-core are all roughly the same, revealing that all virtualization software has reached a rough limit on single-core efficiency, at least as measured by Cinebench. Interestingly, Fusion 7 takes third place in both tests, falling even slightly behind VirtualBox, albeit to a minor degree.
