How to CANCEL Your Netflix Account!

Netflix brought the TV watching experience to the next level. Fresh new content is always coming in and you can never get bored using Netflix.

But sometimes, the vast choice of movies and TV shows can become too much to bear. You can fall into a trap and feel obligated to watch everything at once.

If you feel like Netflix is taking over your life, it’s a good idea to stop subscribing to it. Some users decide to cancel because of budget constraints, and some simply want to check out other options for a while. Whatever your reasons may be, you can cancel your subscription at any time without facing negative consequences. Cancelling is equally simple for free trial users and people who’ve been using Netflix for years.

Before You Cancel Your Netflix Free Trial

To start your free trial, you only need a valid credit card and an email address. When you register an account, you can immediately use all the benefits of your subscription plan. If you don’t want to lose these benefits, consider downgrading your plan instead of straight up cancelling it.

Netflix has a regular, standard, and premium plan, which vary in price depending on the additional features they provide. Whichever option you go for, it’s still cheaper than cable.

How to Cancel Your Netflix Membership

The steps for cancelling a Netflix membership are the same whether you are still on your free trial or you are already a long-term member. To cancel your subscription, simply do the following:

  1. Log into your Netflix account with a browser or using the app.
  2. Once you open it, click on the arrow in the top right corner.
  3. You will get a dropdown menu, and you need to select Account.
  4. At the top of the page, you will see the Membership & Billing section, and your credentials will be listed next to it.
  5. You’ll notice the “Cancel Membership” button right below it.

You should know that your trial won’t be instantly terminated. You will be able to use your Netflix account regularly until the end of the month (that is, until the end of the billing period in which you started the trial). In case you have a leftover promo balance or a gift card, you can keep using your account until this balance is spent.

If you have no balance, your account will get disabled. You have 10 months to change your mind, and then your account details, watch list, and profiles get deleted. If you choose to return to Netflix during that period, everything will be waiting for you.

Do I Get Notified of Netflix Free Trial Expiring?

Netflix isn’t one of those money-grubbing corporations that are only after your money and are willing to trick you to get it. While it is true that they will charge you automatically for the next month if you don’t cancel your membership, they will notify you in time.

Netflix will also send a notification to your mobile phone or email if your free trial is about to expire. They even do it three days in advance, so you can think about it and decide whether you want to stay.

Word of Advice

If you enjoyed your time using Netflix, here is a tip for you. Netflix actually encourages people to share their accounts among friends and family. If you choose the premium option, you can have up to four people using Netflix simultaneously on separate screens on one account.

When you split the bill in four, everyone pays a few dollars and stays happy. Just be careful and don’t get your account stolen because you gave away your password to someone irresponsible.

End of the Road

It is up to you whether or not you will continue using Netflix. It is a well-crafted and user-friendly service, and people usually end up coming back to it. You can change mind anytime, nobody is pressuring you.
